How to use

Newborns: Hold the Tracking Card approximately 15-20cm from your baby’s face and move it slowly from left to right or up and down, allowing your baby to follow with their eyes or by turning their head. Interact and bond with your little one by pointing out all the body parts and sharing emotions. Keep in mind that a newborn’s attention span may only be 4-10 seconds. If they don’t follow immediately, don’t be discouraged. Move the card more slowly or try a card with mostly round shapes. Always be sensitive towards your baby’s sensory cues.

Older Babies: High Contrast Images are effective up to approximately 10 to 12 months. Teaching emotions however remains important far past 12 month. Use these cards as a supportive and interactive tool.

Emotions & My Body Flashcard Set

From birth, babies respond very well to faces and face-like stimuli. Even though they are still exploring what emotions mean, helping children to learn and label emotions from an early age is an active first step towards better social emotional skills, self-calming and problem solving. This set contains the basic emotions, such as: happy, sad, surprised, frustrated, overwhelmed, angry, silly and more. It also has the basic body parts they can start to recognize; hands, feet, ear, nose and mouth.

    WHY High Contrast?

When arriving in this world, and throughout the first year of life, your baby is often overwhelmed by what they see. High Contrast Images provide a calming point of focus - something your baby can easily focus on and will love to look at.

Simple Black and White Images can be introduced from birth. It is an age appropriate stimulation and encourages strong neurological activity, which will literally grow and develop more areas of the brain. This, not only assists with the timely maturation of the visual and other sensory systems, but naturally creates a good foundation for learning and concentration skills.

  • WHY Sensory Stimulation?

A Newborn baby's brain is approximately one quarter of the size that it will one day become.

The remarkable sensory system is already developing in the womb, but once born, all senses develop and mature at different stages.

Regular positive sensory input cause frequent activation of synapses in sensory pathways, which results in stronger, more memorable connections. On the other hand, when pathways are not stimulated, they can start to fade away. It is therefore vital for a baby to receive positive and age appropriate sensory stimulation of all their senses from birth, as this directly influences the maturation of the sensory system and ultimately the growth of the brain.
